UNICEF reports average of one child killed daily in Gaza since ceasefire

UNICEF says roughly 300 children have died in Gaza over the past 300 days, averaging one child per day since the October 10, 2025 ceasefire.

According to UNICEF, at least 300 children have been killed in Gaza in the roughly 300 days since a ceasefire was declared on October 10, 2025, averaging one child death per day. The agency added that hundreds of additional children are injured, many with serious wounds, as families remain restricted to about one-third of the territory, living among destroyed structures and unremoved debris. Children continue to suffer from acute malnutrition, disease, unsafe water, damaged sanitation, and a shortage of incubators that forces premature newborns to share equipment.

Since October 2023, health authorities in Gaza report more than 73,300 Palestinian deaths, with UNICEF stating that over 58,000 children have lost one or both parents and over a million require protection and psychosocial support. The organization warned that the ceasefire is failing children and called for an end to killings, scaled-up aid, and the reopening of hospitals and water services. UNICEF recently delivered over 600 pallets of school supplies and soap in preparation for a school year set to start within two weeks.
