USDA warns consumers about Costco frozen burritos containing undisclosed egg

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released a public health notice concerning Red’s Steak Cilantro and Lime frozen burritos sold at Costco, after confirming that the product contains egg that was not disclosed on its ingredient list. The affected burritos, manufactured on June 19, were distributed to Costco stores in Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota and were sold both individually and in cartons of ten. The discrepancy was identified by a consumer who discovered egg inside the burrito and reported it to the retailer, which then informed the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Although the items have been removed from store shelves, they may still be present in customers’ freezers, and the USDA advises anyone finding them to discard or return them. No adverse reactions have been reported to date. Red’s and Costco have not responded to requests for comment.
