Utah Acquires Former FranklinCovey Campus for Health Department Headquarters
The state of Utah bought the ex-FranklinCovey headquarters in West Valley City for $40 million to eventually house its Department of Health and Human Services.
Utah finalized a $40 million purchase of the former FranklinCovey corporate campus in West Valley City, a site that includes five buildings, a cafeteria, fitness center and auditorium. Colliers, which brokered the deal, noted that comparable new construction would cost far more, especially along the Wasatch Front corridor. The sale, documented in county records, follows a year-long negotiation and a $35 million appropriation by state legislators.
The Department of Health and Human Services, presently operating out of the Dr. Martha Hughes Cannon Building and the Multi-Agency State Office Building in Salt Lake City, will conduct a programming study to determine how to consolidate its operations. Relocation is projected to take two to three years, contingent on design decisions and funding approval, after which the vacated downtown facilities will be reassessed.
