Veteran British actress Jean Lodge passes away at age 99

Jean Lodge, a British performer who featured alongside Alan Ladd in the 1954 adventure film The Black Knight, died at the age of 99, one day after celebrating her birthday. Her granddaughter Amy Shaughnessy reported the loss, describing her grandmother as a vibrant and artistic person. Lodge is survived by her sons Charles Shaughnessy, famed for The Nanny, and David Shaughnessy, a television producer and director, as well as granddaughters Jenny, Katie, Maddy and Josie and great-grandsons Julian and Noa.

Born in Hull, Yorkshire, she started on stage with the Windsor Repertory Company and entered film in 1949 with titles like Dick Barton Strikes Back. Her career spanned roles in Brandy for the Parson, White Corridors and several 1960s productions.
