Victoria Park Precinct Plan Unveiled for Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

A draft masterplan for the Victoria Park Precinct was released today, detailing new pedestrian bridges that will join the park with Brisbane's central business district and the National Aquatic Centre at Centenary Pool. The plan, part of a $7.1 billion infrastructure program jointly funded by state and federal governments for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, earmarks roughly two-thirds of the park for expanded green and public space.

It also includes Brisbane Stadium, upgrades to the Showgrounds, and an enlarged urban forest and York's Hollow wetland. The Crisafulli government selected Victoria Park for the new Games stadium in 2025, a decision the premier called the only viable option despite ongoing protests. Deputy Premier and Minister for the Games Jarrod Bleijie highlighted that the former closed golf course will become widely accessible, fostering lasting community sport use.

Authorities are evaluating additional cycling and pedestrian links over the Inner City Bypass and rail corridor to connect the precinct with the city and Fortitude Valley, promising universal accessibility. A public consultation period opens on Monday and will close on 27 September.
