Victorian farmer bills state for nearly $40,000 after dingo attacks kill 160 sheep
A farmer in Victoria who lost over 160 sheep to wild dogs has sent an invoice for almost $40,000 to the state government, which does not offer compensation for such losses.
Scott Keller, a livestock producer in Victoria, reports that more than 160 head of sheep were taken by wild dogs since the government halted lethal dingo control in March 2024. He has billed the state for roughly $38,000 in damages. Officials responded that the government’s policy provides no financial reimbursement for predation. The opposition party has pledged to reinstate the control order if it wins the upcoming November election.
