Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ Nears ₹150 crore in India on Fifth Day
On its fifth day, Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has pushed its Indian net earnings close to ₹150 crore.
Vijay’s much-anticipated movie ‘Jana Nayagan’, released on July 23 after his shift to politics, continued its strong theatrical run into the fifth day. Trade tracker Sacnilk reported a net addition of ₹1.49 crore on Monday, raising the Indian net to ₹126.24 crore and the gross to ₹147.74 crore. The picture is playing in 4,157 screenings with an average occupancy of 16.7%, and the Tamil-language version alone generated ₹1.27 crore from 2,040 shows.
The Hindi and Telugu versions earned modest sums of ₹14 lakh and ₹8 lakh respectively. Internationally, the film’s overseas gross reached ₹71.5 crore, pushing the global total to about ₹217 crore. Directed by H Vinoth, the cast includes Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil, marking Vijay’s final screen appearance before focusing on his political career.
