Virgin Atlantic unveils exclusive 'Royal Box' lounge at Heathrow
Virgin Atlantic opened a members-only 'Royal Box' lounge inside its Clubhouse at London Heathrow, offering a private, themed space with bespoke service.
Virgin Atlantic introduced the Royal Box, an invite-only lounge-within-a-lounge located in the Clubhouse at Heathrow’s Terminal 3, opening in March 2026 after a pilot space in Los Angeles. Sophie Woodford, the airline’s vice president of brand and marketing, said the venue aims to deliver highly personalized experiences rather than simply easing congestion. The red-themed suite features a plush velvet sofa, a hidden “Cabinet of Curiosities” with secret compartments, a Crosley record player, and binoculars for spotting Virgin’s aircraft, plus a handwritten 1993 note from Princess Diana to Richard Branson on display.
Guests can order the exclusive Drama Queen cocktail or premium drinks via QR code, with service provided by a dedicated waiter. While the space is reserved for invited travelers, criteria are flexible, allowing celebrations, first-time flyers, or even a quiet spot for neurodivergent passengers. The airline sees the Royal Box as a signature element that could appear in future locations such as JFK, reinforcing a trend of premium airlines creating elite micro-lounges.
