Walmart pulls Bettergoods pistachio nut butter over salmonella risk

A recall has been issued for Bettergoods pistachio nut butter, a product sold only at Walmart, after routine testing in Florida uncovered salmonella contamination. Botticelli Foods, the maker, filed the recall on August 3, citing a positive result from three jars examined at a Walmart location. The affected jars are 6.7-ounce glass containers bearing UPC 194346207961, lot code LB028ACP04, and an expiration date of January 28, 2027; they were produced by Gustibus Alimentari Srl in Assoro, Italy, and imported by Botticelli.

Distribution covered Walmart outlets across 19 states, but no other nut butter products were implicated and no cases of illness have been linked to this batch. The FDA advises shoppers to return the product for a refund and provides a phone line and email for Botticelli Foods. Symptoms of salmonella infection can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, and vulnerable individuals should seek medical care if they experience severe signs.
