Waymo lifts Dallas robotaxi waitlist, opens service to all riders

Waymo announced that the waitlist for its Dallas robotaxi operation has been eliminated, permitting anyone in the city to hail a self-driving car through the Waymo app. The service, which relies on a fleet of electric Jaguar I-Pace vehicles managed by Avis Budget Group, still cannot transport passengers to Dallas Love Field Airport, but the company says airport trials are ongoing and service will be added "soon." Waymo first began public road testing in Dallas last year and opened a limited public launch in February, during which roughly 150,000 users accessed the app.

Earlier this year the firm temporarily halted service in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Atlanta after its vehicles struggled with heavy rain and flooded streets; operations have since resumed with the possibility of future weather-related pauses. Riders can monitor real-time service status within the app.
