Festival officials highlighted Herzog’s six-decade legacy, noting his influence on contemporary cinema through roughly 80 films that explore extreme situations and human contradictions.
They cited his “Ecstatic Truth” philosophy, which seeks a poetic dimension beyond factual observation. Herzog’s notable titles include “Aguirre, the Wrath of God,” “Fitzcarraldo,” “Grizzly Man,” and “Cave of Forgotten Dreams.” The festival runs from September 18 to 26.
