The cancellation was announced during the game against the Cleveland Guardians, which also marked African American Heritage Night. The organization pledged that anyone who possessed tickets for that night’s game would be given complimentary tickets to a future White Sox contest.
The team suffered an 8-2 loss, marking their fourth consecutive defeat. Ja Rule had posted a flyer promoting his appearance on Instagram Stories but had not issued a statement regarding his absence. The night before, he participated in a whiskey tasting event at Happy Cork in Brooklyn, New York.
