William Zepeda Captures WBC Lightweight Crown in Dominant Decision Over Roach

The main event of TNT's new series, The Fight, featured William Zepeda and Lamont Roach Jr. battling for the WBC lightweight belt at the Virgin Hotel Theater in Las Vegas. Roach started quickly, but Zepeda responded with high-pace punching, keeping the Mexican fighter on the defensive throughout most of the contest. Roach managed a sharp left hook in the ninth and clean shots in the tenth, yet Zepeda's consistent activity secured the judges' votes.

Tim Cheatham, Eric Cheek and David Sutherland all scored the bout for Zepeda, two at 117-111 and one at 118-110. After the final bell, Zepeda was presented with the championship belt by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, while trainer Jay "Panda" Najar celebrated beside him. The win marks Zepeda's first world title after learning from his earlier loss to Shakur Stevenson.
