Wisconsin brewery promises half-price beer day if McConnell passes away

Minocqua Brewing Company, based in Wisconsin, used its Instagram account to declare that it will celebrate Senator Mitch McConnell's death by selling beer at half price, citing the senator's role in many of America's issues. The post also alluded to a prior promise of free beer on the death of a former president, noting that promotion remains reserved for a "more special" individual. The brewery is currently contesting a notice from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue that seeks to revoke its alcohol license after officials seized canned beer allegedly transported from Illinois without required permits and taxes.

The owner, Kirk Bangstad, has filed an administrative appeal to halt the revocation. The company also markets half-price beer day T-shirts and promotes its political SuperPAC aimed at removing Republican officials linked to the January 6 insurrection and COVID-19 policy criticism. Requests for comment from the brewery, Governor Andy Beshear and Senator McConnell were not immediately answered.
