Wolves boss Peixoto declares fresh start after pre-season win

New Wolves manager Cesar Peixoto says his team is turning a page and building confidence following a 3-0 friendly victory.

Cesar Peixoto, appointed to replace Rob Edwards, described Wolves as entering a new era after a 3-0 pre-season triumph over Racing Santander. He stressed that the club must leave behind the previous campaign, in which they finished bottom of the Premier League, and concentrate on building confidence and a forward-looking identity. Peixoto, previously successful with Gil Vicente, said the players are embracing his tactical ideas and showing hard work.

While the squad already includes recent arrivals Raul Jimenez and Kieran Trippier, the coach expects additional transfers before the 1 September deadline. Wolves will start their competitive schedule with an EFL Cup match versus Port Vale, followed by a Championship home game against Blackburn.
