Worker killed after metal beam strikes him on Liberian ship in Mackay Harbour
A man died on the Liberian vessel M/V Bruce after being hit by a large metal beam during an industrial accident at Mackay Harbour in north Queensland.
Emergency crews responded to a report of a serious injury aboard the M/V Bruce around 7:30 p.m. at Mackay Harbour. The victim was struck by a sizable metal beam and was pronounced dead at the scene by police. Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the critical injury, while Queensland Police reported the fatality. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has opened an investigation and expressed condolences to the deceased’s family. A coroner’s report is also being prepared.
