World No. 1 Jannik Sinner pulls out of Cincinnati Open with knee problem

Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Masters, citing persistent pain in his right knee. The decision follows his recent exit from the National Bank Open in Montreal, also due to the same injury. Sinner said he consulted his doctors and team before concluding he was not fit to compete.

He conveyed regret over missing the event and extended good wishes to tournament director Bob Moran and the organizers. The Italian star, who last appeared on court after defeating Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon, now faces questions about his condition before the US Open starts on August 30. The injury also prevented him from seeking revenge for his 2025 US Open final loss to Carlos Alcaraz, where he retired early because of a physical issue.
