X launches Original Content Rewards program to replace revenue sharing
X has ended its revenue-sharing scheme and introduced a new Original Content Rewards program that pays creators for original posts.
X announced the shutdown of its revenue-sharing program, ceasing new applications and planning a complete closure after September 7. In its place, the company unveiled an Original Content Rewards program that will pay creators based on the qualified impressions their original material receives. Original content is defined as self-produced writing, reporting, photos, videos, memes or illustrations, and must include meaningful commentary or creative editing when building on others' work.
To qualify, users must be 18 or older, reside in an eligible country, hold a Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, have at least 500 verified followers, and achieve 500,000 Home timeline views from verified users within the last 90 days, with impressions counted only from Premium users. Existing revenue-sharing participants must reapply for the new program starting September 8, while those not previously enrolled can submit applications now. The change follows a March update that emphasized regional engagement to curb misrepresented account locations.
