Young brothers crash parents' car into dog walker in Oakland
A 4-year-old and his 7-year-old brother took their parents' sedan for a ride, struck a pedestrian with a dog and crashed into a house on an Oakland street.
Oakland police reported that a 4-year-old and his 7-year-old brother stole their parents' white Toyota sedan early Thursday morning. Driving north on 35th Avenue at a high rate of speed, the car collided with an oncoming vehicle, then struck a woman in her 30s who was walking a dog in the crosswalk at Mangles Avenue. The impact sent the sedan into a nearby house on the corner.
Emergency responders took the pedestrian to the hospital, where she is listed in critical condition. The younger brother suffered a concussion and the older broke his leg; both are listed as stable. Their parents are said to be cooperating with the investigation, and an uncle confirmed the boys took the keys while the adults were asleep.
