John Turner, the 25-year-old fast bowler who represented England in four internationals in 2024, has retired from professional cricket. The Hampshire player, still under contract for two more seasons and formerly on an ECB development contract, has not played since a back stress fracture sidelined him in June of the previous year. His international stint included two ODIs and two T20Is during England's West Indies tour, where he claimed three wickets.
Turner, a Johannesburg native who studied at Hilton College before attending the University of Exeter, cited his injury record as the main factor in stepping away. He expressed gratitude to Hampshire for the support he received throughout his five-year professional tenure and said he now intends to pursue new challenges beyond the sport.
