12-Year-Old Charged with Voluntary Manslaughter in D.C. Teen Shooting

A 12-year-old was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter after a 13-year-old was shot dead in Washington, D.C.

Police responded to a call reporting a person down and discovered a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound, later confirmed dead. The victim was identified as Ahmad Mims. Investigators from the Capital Areas Regional Fugitive Task Force located the alleged shooter, a 12-year-old, and took him into custody on Thursday. He now faces a charge of voluntary manslaughter while armed. The incident occurred on July 11, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
