120 MWh Battery Storage Facility Begins Operations at Teiuș Solar Park
A 120 MWh battery energy storage system with 60 MW power capacity has been commissioned at Eurowind Energy’s photovoltaic park in Teiuș, Alba county.
Eurowind Energy Romania and contractor Allview Energy announced that a 120 MWh battery energy storage system, delivering 60 MW of power, is now operational at the company’s solar park in Teiuș, Alba county. Developed by Teiuș Solar, an affiliate of the Danish group Eurowind Energy, the project received €21 million in funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Allview Energy, the energy arm of Romanian tech firm Visual Fan, executed the full engineering, procurement and construction scope, covering design through commissioning.
Adrian Dobre, country manager of Eurowind Energy Romania, explained that the storage will capture surplus solar output and release it when needed, smoothing the electricity system and dampening price volatility. Lucian Peticilă, Visual Fan’s CEO, said the facility adds significant flexibility and stability to Romania’s power grid as the country expands renewable capacity. Eurowind now operates four solar parks and a wind farm in Romania, with a total of 184 MW of capacity and a pipeline of about 7.5 GW.
Why it matters
The battery adds flexibility to Romania's grid, supporting renewable growth and reducing peak-load pressure.
