13-Year-Old Dies After Critical Injuries from Childers E-Scooter Crash

At approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities were called to a lone e-scooter collision on Macrossan Street in Childers, about 400 km north of Brisbane. The 13-year-old rider incurred serious head injuries and was transported by air to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he remained in critical condition before dying on Saturday. Bundaberg Highway Patrol Sergeant Gordon Hard noted that the events preceding the crash are not yet clear, but he believes the child wore a helmet and that paramedics performed CPR prior to the flight.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident. This tragedy follows a July fatality involving a 39-year-old man from Hervey Bay in a crash with an e-scooter and an electric skateboard, marking the second e-scooter death in the region.
