130,000+ Internally Displaced and Rising Cholera Cases Amid Yemen Fighting
More than 130,000 Yemenis have been displaced since August, while WHO reports 959 deaths, 4,207 injuries and a three-fold surge in cholera, mostly in five governorates.
UNHCR says internal displacement in Yemen has exceeded 130,000 since the start of August, with nearly 3,700 people seeking refuge in Djibouti since 10 September. The World Health Organisation records 959 fatalities and 4,207 wounded between 4 August and 2 October. Cholera infections have tripled in three weeks, and 94 percent of recent cases are concentrated in Taiz, Ahen and Abyan, among other heavily displaced areas.
