16-year-old detained in Warsaw over alleged plan to kill multiple people
Police in Warsaw arrested a 16-year-old who is suspected of preparing a mass-killing, seizing weapons and other combat gear during a raid.
Authorities in Warsaw’s Wola district detained a 16-year-old after receiving a tip about his possible intent to kill multiple victims. A raid of his residence yielded a range of weapons and equipment, including garden shears, knives, a bow, a telescopic rubber baton, items resembling firearms, a bullet-proof vest and pepper spray. Police concluded that his actions created the conditions for a large-scale homicide.
The youth was taken into custody, and a court authorized a three-month pre-trial detention to be served in a juvenile institution. The incident comes amid heightened police activity after three separate school knife attacks by minors earlier in the year, leading to extensive school inspections across the country.
