18-Year-Old Hiker Rescued After Eight Days in NSW Southern Highlands
Lily Hooper, an 18-year-old bushwalker, was located following an eight-day search in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
Hooper vanished on the morning of August 12 after departing from her home southwest of Sydney to hike in Nattai National Park. Authorities discovered her vehicle near the Bonnum Pic Walking Trail and deployed a thermal-imaging helicopter while analysing telecom data to trace her movements. The search concluded with her safe recovery, and Premier Chris Minns thanked the rescue teams during budget estimates.
