20-year-old woman investigated after multiple assaults in Constanța public spaces
Police are probing a 20-year-old suspect after a series of attacks in Constanța, including a recent assault on a 56-year-old woman on a city alley; the suspect was immobilized and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
A series of unplanned assaults in Constanța have led police to a 20-year-old woman suspected of attacking strangers in multiple venues, including a mall passage, a café and a city alley. One eyewitness described being seized by the hair and repeatedly punched near a jewelry store after exiting a cinema, while CCTV footage later showed the suspect hurling a chair at a patron in a café. The latest claim involves a 56-year-old woman who was struck on an alley, prompting the victim to report the incident to authorities.
Constanța County Police Inspectorate identified the suspect, immobilized her and escorted her to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. A criminal investigation for assault has been opened, and Nadia Ilaș, the police spokesperson, emphasized public safety concerns. Since August, the suspect has been taken to the hospital on several occasions for similar aggressive episodes. Psychologist Elena Stambuli explained that intense impulsivity and aggression can arise from deep emotional distress, mental disorders, or psychoactive substance use, underscoring the need for professional assessment.
