2027 Budget Introduces RM100 E-Wallet Reward for Youth Volunteer Hours
The 2027 Budget will give young volunteers who complete required hours with selected NGOs a RM100 e-wallet credit.
During the tabling of the 2027 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled a new component of the Budi Belia programme. Under this scheme, any young person who completes the mandated volunteer hours with designated non-governmental organisations will receive a RM100 credit to an e-wallet. Anwar framed the incentive as a way to nurture compassion, a core value of the Malaysia Madani agenda, noting that kindness knows no racial boundaries.
He highlighted stories such as nurse Deena Nadzhiefa feeding an Indian patient, Zira offering free meals to hungry schoolchildren, and Usop’s “Minyak Hitam Jalanan” project swapping acts of goodwill with Dicky. The government hopes the financial reward will encourage more youth participation in community service.
Why it matters
The incentive aims to boost youth volunteerism, reinforcing social cohesion and the Malaysia Madani values.
