24 Hour Home Care to cut 738 positions amid Health Net service changes

24 Hour Home Care, a Los Angeles-based provider of daily living and personal care for veterans and people with disabilities, will permanently dismiss 738 employees beginning Sept. 15. The decision follows Health Net’s announcement that it will cease offering Personal Care and Homemaker Services starting Jan. 1, 2027, prompting the caregiver firm to cite the move as the cause of the workforce reduction. With a total staff of roughly 30,000 caregivers throughout California, the company said the layoffs will affect both members and employees, creating uncertainty for families.

This action adds to a wave of staffing cuts in the state’s health sector, such as Stanford Health Care’s 95 non-clinical job eliminations and John Muir Health’s 75 position reductions across several locations. Earlier this year, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health also shut down clinical services at seven sites due to a $50 million funding shortfall.
