24-year-old murder suspect linked to Swiss drug courier ambush faces prison sentence

A 24-year-old man accused of murder was sentenced to seven years for a serious drug offence after an attempted robbery of a Swiss courier in Espoo.

A 24-year-old man, charged with murder, received a seven-year sentence for a severe drug-trafficking case after he and an accomplice tried to steal a shipment of cocaine from a Swiss courier staying at Hotel Korpilampi in Espoo. The pair waited for the courier's car, assaulted him, and later searched his vehicle, finding only clothing in a Louis Vuitton bag. The courier had already moved about 22 kg of cocaine and alpha-PVP to his hotel room.

Police later arrested the suspect and a woman who assisted, and the suspect admitted to the drug crime and an attempted robbery. Authorities now investigate a homicide in Vantaa's Martinlaakso, where a 23-year-old neighbour was killed; police suspect the murder suspect fled abroad after the killing. The court also sentenced several others in related drug cases, including a 48-year-old Swiss man who received ten years for multiple drug offences.
