31-year-old arrested after 11-year-old boy bitten by loose Bullmastiff-type dogs in Manchester

Police detained a 31-year-old on suspicion of owning an aggressive animal after an 11-year-old was bitten on the elbow in Newton Heath.

Greater Manchester Police were called to Scotland Hall Road in Newton Heath at about 4 p.m. after witnesses reported Bullmastiff-type dogs running loose. An 11-year-old boy was bitten on his elbow, an injury described as minor by the force. Police deployed several vehicles, including the Tactical Aid Unit, to the scene. Officers confiscated one dog and secured two additional animals in kennels. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an aggressive animal. The exact breeds of the three dogs remain unverified. No further injuries were reported.
