33-Year-Old Charged in Queensland After 18-Month Probe of Infant Assault
Police arrested a 33-year-old man and charged him with serious child-harm offences after an 18-month investigation into a life-threatening assault on a two-month-old baby in southern Queensland; he was released on bail and must appear in court on September 15.
The Toowoomba Child Protection Investigation Unit has been examining the alleged attack on the infant since January 2025, when the child was rushed to Warwick Hospital with critical injuries. After 18 months, detectives detained a 33-year-old man known to the child in Harristown and lodged charges of grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm and failing to provide necessities of life. He was released on bail and is scheduled to face the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on September 15, while the inquiry continues.
