34-year-old detained on murder suspicion after fatal fight outside Yorkshire pub

Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a man in his 50s died from injuries sustained in a fight outside The Star Hotel in Cudworth.

Around 11.30 pm on Friday, officers from South Yorkshire Police were dispatched to The Star Hotel in Cudworth after reports of a confrontation outside the venue. The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered severe injuries from an assault by another individual and was rushed to hospital, where he later died. On the following morning, a 34-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Laura Procter of the Major Crime Team stated that the investigation had identified a single suspect and that no additional parties were believed to be involved. She urged anyone with relevant details to contact the police, providing the incident number for reference. The victim’s family is receiving support from specially trained officers.
