35-year-old receives life sentence for killing Polish professor in Agia Paraskevi

A man sentenced to life imprisonment confessed to murdering Polish professor Psemlisav Gezorski in Agia Paraskevi in July 2025.

A Greek court sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment after he confessed to the July 2025 murder of Polish professor Psemlisav Gezorski in Agia Paraskevi. The victim’s ex-spouse was also indicted as a moral accomplice but took her own life in prison last June. During the trial, the defendant asserted that he alone planned and executed the killing to shield his family—a 43-year-old partner and her children—from a protracted legal battle.

He feared the professor might relocate the children abroad and said the act would resolve the dispute. The judge accepted his confession and imposed the maximum custodial penalty.

Why it matters

The case highlights severe domestic conflict and raises concerns about prison safety after a co-defendant’s suicide.
