38-year-old shoots ex-girlfriend in Kalamata, flees, crashes and is arrested
A 38-year-old man opened fire on his 25-year-old ex-partner in central Kalamata, fled, crashed his car and was later captured by police.
On Wednesday morning in central Kalamata, a 38-year-old man threatened his 25-year-old former partner by phone, then positioned himself near her job and discharged a hunting rifle at her, though she was not injured. After the shooting he fled in his car, collided with another vehicle, and left the crash site. Officers from the Messinia Police Crime Investigation Sub-division, supported by the Dual-Patrol unit, tracked him down and placed him under arrest.
During the investigation the firearm used was seized; it was registered to a 68-year-old resident who voluntarily presented himself and was charged with illegal weapons possession. The suspect now faces charges of attempted homicide, domestic threat, traffic violations and firearms offenses.
