61-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder after Bridgend crash kills housing worker

Eleanor Barnfield, a 47-year‑old employee of the Valleys to Coast housing association, died after her car hit a wall on Coity Road in Bridgend and she was later found with puncture wounds that police say were not caused by the collision. South Wales Police launched a large operation around the Ger‑y‑Nant sheltered housing complex where she worked, evacuating residents and cordoning off the area. A 61‑year‑old man from Bridgend was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held. He is due to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
