62-year-old charged for repeat unpermitted Falun Gong gatherings in Singapore

Ng Chye Huay, a 62-year-old resident, faced six new charges on Friday for participating in Falun Gong-related assemblies at Merlion Park and Anderson Bridge without the required police permit. She has been convicted of comparable offences in 2001, 2005 and 2007, and received a 12-month warning in July 2020 for the same breach. Authorities said she remained recalcitrant, continuing the gatherings from October 2024 through February 2026.

In court she indicated she would dispute all counts and asked for time to obtain legal representation; a pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Oct 26. Singapore’s Public Order Act prohibits unpermitted assemblies of five or more people, especially those that could stir political sentiment, with fines up to S$3,000.
