7-Year-Old Special-Needs Student Dies on Ohio School Bus After Possible Seatbelt Mishap

Ngone Talla, a seven-year-old with cerebral palsy who attended Roselawn Condon School in Cincinnati, died while riding a school bus operated by First Student. Her family found the bus idle for roughly ten minutes outside their house, a deviation from the normal routine of opening the rear doors to unload her wheelchair. Upon entering the bus, they found her unresponsive in her wheelchair; she was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Hamilton County Coroner reported no signs of trauma and highlighted her extensive medical history. The Cincinnati Police Department, together with other agencies, opened an investigation into a possible seat-belt entrapment. Cincinnati Public Schools activated its Crisis Response Unit and expressed condolences, while the family criticized the driver and monitor for insufficient supervision.
