72-Year-Old Man Held in Le Havre for Killing Wife with Dumbbell

On Sunday afternoon, police in Le Havre received a call from a man who said he had killed his wife. Officers arrived at the apartment to find a 70-year-old woman lying dead in the corridor with a deep skull fracture. The 72-year-old husband was taken into custody and reportedly admitted to striking her with a dumbbell, which was recovered at the location.

Investigators noted several severe blows to the head and are conducting forensic examinations, as well as interviewing relatives. The victim had previously filed a complaint in 2012 over harassing phone calls, which was later withdrawn. The prosecutor's office, led by Soizic Guillaume, is handling the case, which adds to a rise in femicide figures.
