88-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Abingdon Home, 36-Year-Old Man Arrested

Around 2:20 pm on Thursday, Thames Valley Police arrived at a property on Appleford Drive in Abingdon after reports of an unexplained death. Inside, officers found the body of 88-year-old Jill Gant. A 36-year-old man from Abingdon was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin confirmed that the family has been informed and is being assisted by specially trained officers, while also requesting privacy for them. He emphasized that, at this stage, there is no perceived threat to the wider public and that police presence in the neighbourhood will stay elevated.
