A320neo suffers simultaneous loss of all three hydraulic systems over India
A preliminary investigation confirmed that an A320neo lost all three hydraulic circuits at 36,000 feet, injuring 24 passengers.
Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau officials reported that the A320neo VT-EXO, carrying 145 people, experienced a near-simultaneous failure of its three independent hydraulic circuits at 36,000 feet shortly after being cleared to climb by Kolkata ATC. Within four seconds the green, blue and yellow systems dropped, prompting autopilot disengagement, a continuous chime and a two-second stall warning. The aircraft’s altitude briefly increased by 372 feet then fell 292 feet before the hydraulic pressure was restored, first the blue system and then yellow and green, allowing normal control.
Twenty-four occupants sustained injuries during the upset. The preliminary report offered no explanation for the triple failure and no safety recommendations, noting that hydraulic components, fluid samples and recorder data are still being examined, with a final report expected by August 4, 2027. Engineers described such a total hydraulic loss as exceptionally rare, citing only a handful of historic cases involving other aircraft types.
