AAP leader files FIR complaint over giant cockroach effigy burned at Delhi Ramlila

AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj lodged a complaint seeking an FIR against the organizers of a Pitampura Ramlila that burned a 30-ft cockroach effigy alongside traditional figures, claiming it offended religious sentiments.

In Delhi, AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj filed a formal complaint with the Lieutenant Governor and the police chief, requesting an FIR against the Shri Keshav Ramlila Committee for burning a 30-foot cockroach effigy during a Ramlila event in Pitampura. The complaint also implicated committee member and minister Kapil Mishra, who attended as chief guest. Mishra responded by labeling the offended parties as "termites" of the nation's politics and suggested a conspiracy against the country.

Event organizers defended the display, saying it was intended to raise awareness about filth and health hazards. Bharadwaj asked for the removal of photos, videos and promotional material from media and social platforms, and warned he would approach the courts if authorities failed to register an FIR. The burning attracted a large crowd and coincided with protests by the Cockroach Janta Party against the chief election commissioner.
