Abortion-opposition groups and former government allies attend heart-beat law repeal talks

The Tisza government’s health ministry convened two consultation rounds to discuss scrapping the heart-beat law, ending prescription-free emergency contraception, and introducing medical abortion pills. While the majority of civil societies present supported the repeal, at least one group clearly opposed both the repeal and the pill. Because the ministry did not publish a name list for the later meeting, Lakmusz identified participants from a photo, naming Axióma Központ (led by Gíró-Szász Áron and Horváth Bálint), the Családtudományi Szövetség, the Nemzeti Család és Szociálpolitikai Intézet, the Anya-Ország Alapítvány (founded by Téglásy Imre), CitizenGO’s Teleki Béla, and the Lorántffy Zsuzsanya Women’s Association whose president Molnárné Hegedűs Zsuzsanna is the sister of református pastor Hegedűs Zsolt.
