AC Milan sends young defender David Odogu on loan to Toulouse
AC Milan will loan 20-year-old centre-back David Odogu to French side Toulouse FC, with the Italian club continuing to pay his wages.
David Odogu, a 20-year-old centre-back who progressed through VfL Wolfsburg’s academy, is set to join Toulouse FC on a season-long loan from AC Milan, with Milan covering his salary. The German-born player transferred to Milan last summer for a reported €7 million but has featured only sparingly, totaling three appearances for Wolfsburg and 16 minutes across three games for Milan. Toulouse hopes the loan will allow Odogu to develop and challenge incumbent right-back Rasmus Nicolaisen for a starting role.
The arrangement is notable as it represents the inaugural deal between the two clubs, both owned by the RedBird investment group. Odogu extended his contract with Milan in May, and the move is intended to provide him with consistent first-team action in Ligue 1.
Why it matters
The loan gives a promising young defender regular game time and deepens cooperation between two RedBird-owned clubs.
