Online sleuths traced the number to an employee of Rhode Island-based Acclaro Medical, leading the firm to suspend the staff member while it conducts a probe. Acclaro Medical issued a statement denouncing racism, harassment and hate speech, emphasizing that the incident does not reflect its values.
Hamby’s case adds to a growing list of WNBA players, including Chelsea Gray and Alyssa Thomas, who have spoken out about online hate and threats. The league’s commissioner, Engelbert, has reiterated a zero-tolerance stance toward such behavior.
