Accused in Saif Ali Khan stabbing files plea to admit guilt

Mohammad Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national apprehended shortly after the knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan in January 2025, approached the court to enter a guilty plea and request mercy. His counsel, Vipul Dushing, stated that the application reflects Islam's readiness to accept all accusations. The magistrate has directed the prosecution to file a reply and has adjourned the matter until September 11.

Previously, Additional Sessions Judge G P Deshmukh outlined the charges, which include robbery with a deadly weapon, grievous hurt, house trespass, and violations of the Foreigners Act and passport rules. Khan survived the assault after emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is slated to appear in the upcoming film Haiwaan.
