ACP pushes municipal referendum on shared electric scooters in Lisbon

The Automóvel Clube de Portugal completed a signature collection campaign in Lisbon aimed at launching a municipal referendum concerning shared electric scooters. After exceeding the mandatory number of signatures, the request was forwarded to the city's municipal assembly, where a dedicated commission will review the proposal within a set timeframe. The commission must then produce a report and submit the recommendation to the full assembly for a vote.

Should the assembly endorse the referendum, the case will be sent to the Constitutional Court for constitutional review. The court will examine the request within a prescribed period, and if it passes, a citywide vote on the scooter policy will be organized. The club highlighted concerns about road safety, pedestrian space, and overall urban quality of life linked to the scooters.
