ACT Greens terminate confidence-and-supply pact with Labor for rest of term

Jo Clay said the ACT Greens have dissolved their confidence-and-supply arrangement with the Labor administration for the rest of one outlet term, following a vote by the party’s four MLAs and consulted members. She informed Chief Minister Andrew Barr of the move, emphasizing that the break will allow the Greens to hold Labor more accountable. Despite ending formal support, the Greens will still vote for the budget, having extracted concessions such as retaining the health levy exemption and increased community sector funding.

Clay stressed that the Greens are not considering a partnership with the Liberals and listed unmet commitments on public housing, renter rights, the Western Edge, library services, gambling harm-reduction, horse-racing funding, and a clear climate-action plan. She criticized Labor for non-commitment on issues ranging from a cancelled Tuggeranong ice rink to below-inflation teacher pay offers.
