ACT Party rolls out bright pink campaign bus for Auckland election tour
ACT leader David Seymour and candidates toured Auckland in a distinctive pink bus, using it to meet voters and showcase the party’s message.
ACT’s campaign bus, a bright pink coach called “Big Pinky,” made a series of stops across Auckland’s North Shore, starting in St Heliers and moving through Matakana, Albany, and other towns. Leader David Seymour, accompanied by candidates Karen Chhour, Alex Price, Yang Qu, Helena Roza and several staffers, used the vehicle as a moving billboard and a platform for voter outreach, distributing flyers and discussing tax-cut policies.
After a failed attempt to park at a chosen café, the team quickly shifted to an alternate venue, while driver Andrew Taula navigated traffic amid frequent beeps. Candidates described the journey as an opportunity to bond and present a united front, likening the caucus to a family. Interactions with locals ranged from enthusiastic support to brief challenges on tax policy, and the bus also visited a Four Square store where owner David Whyman noted shifting retailer allegiances toward ACT. The tour underscored the tightness of the election race and ACT’s effort to stand out in a crowded field.
