Activist Rafael Borrego's car pelted with eggs and stones by Ceuta residents

While conducting a human-rights observation mission in Ceuta, lawyer Rafael Borrego was targeted by a large group of residents at the port entrance. The crowd, assembled to prevent the arrival of activists from the anti-capitalist group Negu Gorriak, threw eggs and stones at Borrego's grey vehicle, alleging he was part of an NGO. Borrego told reporters the assault left the car “shattered” and warned that the mob intended to kill him.

Police responded by charging the demonstrators and discharging several warning shots, prompting angry chants about the nearby migrant “Trampolín” settlement. The protest, organized via social media, followed a separate march of hundreds of people to the El Tarajal border, demanding stronger protection of the frontier amid the migration crisis.
